Assistance with CET 4429 Assignments
Spring 2010 Assignments
The theme for the Spring 2010 offering of CET 4429 will be educational quizzing and testing systems. This follows the same theme as used in CET 4583 and CET 4584 for this academic year. Since many of you have had experience using online quiz and survey systems - this should be a relatively easy to understand theme. The assignments (as in previous years) will follow the creation of a full database along hte lines of this theme.
To prepare for the assignments you will (1) need to have an installation of Microsoft SQL Server, and (2) an installation of Visual Studio. To be proficient in use of databases you should have exposure to Oracle (in CET 4427), SQL Server, and hopefully MySQL. You will also be expected to use Visio as a database diagramming tool. Assignments are weekly.

Project Assignments - All students will work on the design of a database system as a semester long project. Students may work as individuals or as groups baed on the complexity of the database system that needs to be designed. Students are responsible for finding an appropriate system to design, doing all research into the system, documenting specifications, and creating the full design. Things you should NOT be designing; customer databases, sales systems, inventory systems or any other database that has been "done to death". Students may individually design similar systems (for example multiple students may choose to extend the design of the quiz system in the examples). I will give suggestions in the project assignment pages.

Spring 2009 Assignments
The Spring 2009 assignments follow the theme of a restaurant management system. Since we have just done major development of such a system the students can look at http://www.findfoodnearby.com to get ideas of features and fields necessary for such a system - or they can simply eat out at a restaurant. Also comments and suggestions on our site are greatly appreciated too ...

Spring 2008 Assignments
The Spring 2008 assignments all follow a theme of a student database and course registration system. All students have some level of familiarty with such a system and thus can make decisions based on instructor feedback and their own design judgment.
